Friday 19 January 2018

The annual Westminster Seminar is CPA UK’s flagship capacity-building programme for first-term parliamentarians and newly appointed procedural/committee Clerks from across the Commonwealth. Every year the five-day programme provides a unique platform for participants to network and engage with counterparts; exploring differing approaches to parliamentary democracy, practice and procedure in the context of the Westminster System and comparative Commonwealth parliamentary structures. This year CPA UK will host the 2017 Westminster Seminar on Parliamentary Practice and Procedure from Monday 13 November – Friday 17 November 2017 at the Houses of Parliament in London. From Monday 26 February – Thursday 1 March 2018 CPA UK will host the inaugural Commonwealth Parliamentarians’ Forum in partnership with the UK Commonwealth Summit Team. This four-day Forum will host parliamentarians from national legislatures across 52 Commonwealth countries to engage with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) themes (Sustainability, Fairness, Security, and Prosperity, with cross-cutting themes of gender and youth). The Forum will seek to revitalise and renew the Commonwealth’s importance and relevance for future generations, as well as strengthen the crucial role of parliamentarians in meeting global challenges across the Commonwealth.
