Update: Guernsey Election Expert Mission, 28 September – 9 October 2020
Published 02 October 2020
Due to the rapidly changing situation surrounding Covid-19 and rising concern in Guernsey, it has been agreed by all parties that a more thorough, fair and effective assessment of the election can be achieved through virtual, rather than hybrid, means. Therefore, the remainder of the Mission to Guernsey, conducted by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association British Islands and Mediterranean Region (CPA BIMR), will be carried out remotely as an Election Expert Mission by our core team of observers.
CPA BIMR has prior experience carrying out successful and innovative Election Expert Missions through virtual means, namely to the Anguilla elections in June 2020. Election Expert Missions cover all sections of a normal election observation mission, except in-person observations of the voting system. We will continue engaging with key stakeholders across Guernsey to effectively carry out the remainder of this important and timely mission, and to publish a comprehensive report reflecting their observations within the stated two months following the election.
