Parliamentary Roundtable Discussion to Address Orphanage Trafficking
18 November 2024
Venue: UK Parliament
Orphanage Trafficking, in which children are recruited and trafficked into institutions for the purpose of financial profit and other forms of exploitation, is a form of institution-related trafficking of children.
This Roundtable, organised by CPA UK in partnership with the BGIPU, the OSCE and Griffith University from Brisbane, aims to raise awareness about the prevalence of orphanage trafficking worldwide. The discussion will examine the underlying supply and demand nexus contributing to the phenomenon of orphanage trafficking, and the impact of orphanage trafficking on children.
It will showcase successful interventions and best practices in combating the issue and suggest concrete steps to allow parliamentary action against orphanage trafficking.
