From 30 October – 1 November 2023, CPA UK will partner with the National Assembly of Zambia to organise a regional workshop for Public Accounts Committees (PACs) in Lusaka, five years after the last workshop of this nature took place on the African Continent.

This exciting three-day workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to:

(1) Compare their experiences working on or supporting the PAC or equivalent committees.

(2) Identify common challenges faced by PACs or equivalent committees in their legislatures and explore practical solutions for them.

(3) Build networks to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and best practice in oversight and scrutiny of public finances.

Approximately 40 parliamentarians and parliamentary officials from legislatures across Africa are expected to attend the workshop. A PAC delegation from the UK Parliament will also attend the workshop.

Topics expected to be covered include benchmarking for PACs, effective report writing, collaborating with parliamentary officials/clerks and National Audit Institutions, and the role of Value for Money Reports.
