The three-day programme focussed on parliamentary strengthening 

Between 24 – 26 April 2023, CPA UK hosted the Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana, Rt Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin MP, and a delegation of parliamentary officials. 

The Speaker and delegation met UK parliamentarians to discuss areas of parliamentary business, including  procedure in the UK Parliament, accountability through committees, and ministerial obligations and responsibilities. 

The visit included meetings with House of Commons Speaker Rt Hon. Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, Minister for Africa, Rt Hon. Andrew Mitchell MP, the Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs Rt Hon. David Lammy MP, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee Alicia Kearns MP, CPA UK Chair and Treasurer Rt Hon. Dame Maria Miller MP and Chris Elmore MP, and many other parliamentarians representing both Houses and different political parties.
